DAILY DUTIES.
This week started off very boring, doing laundry, washing the car and bike from all the dust we collected inside and out at Bardenas Reales.
We left the olive oil farm with the direction Madrid. We had booked our camping spot there on Saturday, so we had almost the whole week for those 320km.
Our first stop was a beautiful hidden lake somewhere again in the middle of nowhere. Somehow we always end up finding the best spots when it comes to being remote and in nature.
We had a beautiful stay there on top of the cliff, no lights, no sounds, just pure nature. We wanted to stay longer, but the next more we drove with the bike to “cafe” near by, which was like going in to a town with 25 people and all of them gathering there for their breakfast, churros and a hot chocolate. On the big old TV there was naked survival on DMAX, so we knew after our coffee that was below poor, that we had to move on.
I think that just is the other side of being remote, a lot of your comfy things you are used to will be missed, like good coffee, croissant, young people around you etc.
So we left to the next city which was Siguenza. Never heard of it, and also not something I will remember. You can already see, this week was a different story than the past two, we slowly were fed up with pure nature, lakes, towns with 30 people and all of them over 60 years old, so we headed down to madrid, only a short stop away from madrid we had our final stop again at a lake. That was actually really nice because we knew next up would be the city life, and at least Max enjoyed it to the fullest.
It was Friday morning, and we had one more night to go until Madrid, but somehow I couldn’t wait anymore so I booked a night earlier in Madrid and we drove the last hour that separated us from my dream destination. I didn’t know anything about Madrid itself, but since I’m a big fan of their football club I was excited to see what it had to offer.
The first full day in Madrid was Saturday, so we expolore the city, found our coffee spot which we now go to every day, found a good spot to work with the best juices ever and good wifi.
While I was working on the laptop a thought popped up in my mind. We drove past the stadium of Atletico Madrid when we arrived here, and I was impressed. Not by the club itself since I don’t really like it that much, but the stadium looked state of the art and really inviting.
So I checked online for the next match. And like always, the luck and flow of life was on my side. They had a home game at 9PM at their stadium. Fastforward we had two tickets and went to.the game. Not supporting any team, just enjoying the atmosphere and the beauty of the game.
I was amazed by the stadium and the fans, how technically gifted the players are, how fast the game is, how it looked like a studio setup with all the lights, cameras etc.
But thinking this was already it, I wasn’t ready for what would await me in the next few days. More on that on next weeks story.
